
Overview
The Master of Music Education at Mississippi State University is a hybrid program (a combination of summer and online courses) designed to support music professionals in the advancement of both their pedagogical and musical skills. Included in the degree is performance practice, conducting, pedagogy, curriculum, music theory, history, and the essentials of research in music education.
Degree information:
- The Choral and Elementary tracks are summer programs designed to be completed in three consecutive summers.
- The Instrumental track is a summer program designed to be completed in a five-week term (June) during three consecutive summers, and ten credits of hybrid classes.
- The MME consists of 32 credits.
- Courses are taught by experienced faculty with years of successful classroom experience.

- Preferably have an undergraduate grade point average of 3.00 for admission to the graduate program
- Must submit three letters of recommendation, with at least two coming from individuals familiar with the applicant's academic work; letters should address the applicant's potential for successfully completing graduate studies
- Must submit a personal statement (500-1,000 words) describing the applicant's purpose for undertaking graduate study, including professional plans and career goals
