Overview
Program Highlights
- Guided by internationally-recognized faculty, students at the Composition MM program offered at University of Texas at Austin receive lessons in a wide range of styles and genres including band, orchestral, choral, chamber music, electro-acoustic music, and film scoring.
- Student composers will collaborate with ensembles and chamber groups to have their work read and performed. CLUTCH, or the Collective Labors of the UT Composition Hub, is a concert series that features and promotes music by student composers and is sponsored by the University Co-op. Austin also affords students diverse opportunities to present their music in public concerts and festivals – the new music scene in Austin is alive and thriving.
- In addition to extensive training in composition, students have the opportunity to participate in ensembles and receive comprehensive instruction in music theory and music history.
