Overview
About the Program
The accelerated School Nurse Specialty program of Rutgers University offers two tracks –a School Nurse certificate and a School Nurse certificate with a pathway to a Master of Nursing with Specialty in School Health Services.
Healthy students are better learners and school nurses, working with community partners, strive to promote family-centered collaborative care. In combination with clinical practicums, students enrolled in our accelerated program learn the skills and theory that keep our children healthy, fit, and ready to learn. We educate school nurses who become highly skilled in population health, public policy, social determinants of health, trauma-informed care, and adverse childhood events.
Graduates of our program understand population health principles as an integral part of their school nurse role and responsibilities. The foundation of our School Nurse Specialty Program builds on the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) Framework for 21st Century School Nursing Practice.
