Programme Structure
Thesis program
- 18-30 semester hours in history, including HIST 6301 and HIST 6302 and HIST 6303.
- With approval of the department head, the student may elect an additional field of study at least six but not more than 12 semester hours.
- At least 15 of the total 30 semester hours must be taken at the 6000 level.
- Students may take up to 12 hours of HIST 6096.
- Students will be required to pass an oral comprehensive examination over the thesis upon its completion.

- Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended
- Overall undergraduate GPA ≥ 3.00
- GRE Scores in the 50th percentile or higher in one or more categories (math, verbal, or analytical)
- A writing sample or a two to three page typed essay over a topic selected by the history graduate adviser
- One letter of recommendation from an individual who can comment on your academic work and suitability for graduate school
- Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 to remain eligible for scholarships and/or graduate assistantship
