Overview
The department at the University of California, San Diego offers an Umbrella Program for the PhD reflective of the depth and breadth of contemporary research undertaken within Chemistry and Biochemistry. The umbrella program encompasses seven different tracks from which students can choose. The tracks are overlapping in terms of course work and research advisers.

General requirements
- A test of English language proficiency is required for international applicants whose native language is not English and who have not studied full-time for one uninterrupted academic year at a university-level institution in which English is the language of instruction and in a country where English is a dominant language.

- Minimum of 3 recommendations required.
- Statement of Purpose
- If you already have an agreement to do research under the direction of a Chemistry and Biochemistry Professor, the MS Thesis Agreement Form is highly recommended. It is an agreement between you and your research advisor. Please have your research advisor fill it out, print, sign, and then upload to your application.
