While attention is given to the descriptive, institutional, and historical aspects, primary emphasis is placed on the analytical foundations of the discipline, emphasizing theory and methods of analysis and making extensive use of relevant techniques of micro and macroeconomic theory, mathematics, and statistics.
- The core Finance classes in Corporate Finance and Macroeconomics at the University of Pennsylvania ensure that all Wharton graduates will be ready to master personal finance issues and are able to provide critical input to businesses, financial institutions, governments, and not-for-profit entities.
- The variety and quality of elective courses offered by the Wharton Finance faculty is unsurpassed and one the strengths of our school. It has been designed to meet the needs of both generalists and students who choose to pursue one of the two majors offered through the department: the broad Finance Major and the more specialized (STEM-designated) Quantitative Finance Major for students with a strong interest in the application of quantitative methods to finance.
