Overview

Recognizing the importance of public health in the field of medicine, the Yale School of Medicine and the Yale School of Public Health (YSPH) offer a joint degree program in medicine and public health.

This joint degree at Yale University, is more than simply a list of courses taken at both schools. It is an integrated educational program which is designed to achieve a combination of the two programs in a way that is complementary to both while protecting the integrity of each separate program.

Features

The Medicine and Public Health joint degree program combines the YSPH two-year Master of Public Health degree with the School of Medicine four-year Doctor of Medicine degree. The joint degree program normally requires five years of full-time study, and both degrees are awarded simultaneously at the conclusion of the five-year period.

Yale medical students interested in the Joint MD/MPH Program follow one of the Advanced Professional Degree tracks and should contact the program director, Professor Mayur Desai, to discuss how the MPH curriculum will be integrated into their medical studies.
