Program Overview

The M.M. Music Performance - Organ from Ohio University houses The University chapel, which has an outstanding tracker organ built by the Gene Bedient company in 1997. It serves as the primary instrument for organ instruction and practicing. There are scholarships available for qualified students and graduate assistantships are possible for Masters candidates.

Audition Conditions

Students residing in the continental United States are required to audition in person. The live audition provides students the opportunity to meet our faculty and explore the campus. There are also a variety of activities that take place on each audition day that seek to provide students with a complete picture of the School of Music and our curricular offerings. Exceptions to this rule may be made in rare circumstances and must be approved by the Keyboard Division Chair.

Students residing outside the United States are encouraged to audition in person but may elect to submit a DVD or YouTube link that contains a live performance by the applicant of the required repertoire. Students who are admitted via pre-recorded audition will be asked to perform for the piano faculty upon arrival to campus.

Minimum of 2 hours of chamber music
Minimum of 4 hours of MUS theory/history/composition courses

KEYBOARD GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS

Auditioning students who wish to be considered for a graduate assistantship must submit a dossier that contains the following materials:

Resume/Vita
Philosophy of Teaching
Letters of Recommendation
Essay: Teaching Experience, Collaborative Piano Background, and Professional Aspirations
Strongly encouraged but not required: DVD of teaching in group and/or private settings, or collaborative performance experience
