Texas State University’s specialized concentration, referred to as the Teacher Recruitment Program (TRP), began in 2001 as an ideal entry for second-career considerations. Students on this Secondary Education - Teacher Recruitment Program program from Texas State University may receive their certification after two semesters of field-based and academic course work and complete their master’s degree while earning a teacher’s salary.

Career Options

The majority of the students remain in the Central Texas area, teaching in public and private schools. Graduates are also qualified to become instructional coaches, education consultants, curriculum coordinators, grade level or content team leaders, directors of a department, mentor teachers, or writers of textbooks. Students are also prepared for doctoral study at Texas State or another qualified university.
