The multi-faceted Mathematics (Applied Mathematics Concentration) program from Texas State University offers a strong foundation and research opportunities in mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics, preparing students for further graduate study, teaching, or industry positions.

Program Mission

The strengths of the master’s programs lie in the depth and breadth of the mathematics courses and an active research environment.

The mission is to:

develop graduates who can contribute to research as future leaders in mathematics or mathematics education, with a vision of enhancing our programs nationally for research and innovation in mathematics education
advance research in mathematics and mathematics education, providing intellectual leadership that is of direct benefit to the state of Texas and beyond

The goals are to:

develop a strong foundation in mathematics
prepare future leaders in mathematics, statistics or mathematics education

produce innovative thinkers and problem-solvers who can contribute to the needs of the state in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)

Career Options

In addition to being well prepared for further graduate study, graduates of the master's programs in mathematics are equipped for positions such as:
