Overview
The required coursework is drawn from the core curriculum of the Applied Mathematics (Certificate NDP) and the broad range of electives will enable them to develop mathematical expertise in application areas useful to their professional development. The certificate from The University of Arizona is primarily aimed at the professional community outside the University (e.g. employees in local companies).
The certificate will provide additional professional qualifications to assist in their career development, and will help foster closer relations with the University. A successful Certificate experience may also encourage such professionals to enroll in the MS and PhD degrees in Applied Mathematics.
Graduate Interdisciplinary Programs
The Graduate College sponsors several Graduate Interdisciplinary Programs (GIDPs) in addition to the many interdisciplinary possibilities available through regular graduate degree programs.
GIDPs transcend departmental boundaries by facilitating cutting edge teaching and research at the nexus of traditional disciplines. The high value placed on interdisciplinary research and education is indicative of The University of Arizona's enthusiasm and commitment to fostering innovation and creativity among its faculty and students.
