We maintain our commitment to being a first-rate research program in sociology. We also offer a M.A. degree but only to graduate students who are enrolled in our Ph.D. program. We do not offer a terminal M.A..

The undergraduate major provides a foundation for careers in many professional fields, and for graduate training as a sociologist in academia, government, business, or community agencies.

You must hold either a bachelor's or master's degree with a 3.00 grade point average. Only students who expect to obtain the Ph.D. degree are typically admitted to the program. Students are normally admitted to the program only in the fall semester.
