Key facts:

The Family Nurse Practitioner program of University of Pennsylvania emphasizes hands-on, real life care in all aspects of the program. All of our faculty members are currently in practice, an important cornerstone of our program, giving you indispensable exposure to the kind of work you’ll step into after graduation. You’ll also have opportunities to do clinical work here and abroad, interacting with patients speaking languages other than English and gaining experience with culturally diverse populations.

Although this program is in-person, to accommodate the busy schedules of our students some courses will be offered in an online or hybrid format. Clinical placements are in person and arranged not only within the Penn network, but also within other leading local and mid-Atlantic health care systems.

General requirements

All applicants must have completed a BSN at an accredited college or university and a statistics course. Generally speaking, competitive applicants have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in their BSN program. Applicants who have completed their BSN program in the United States with a GPA of 3.2 or greater on a 4.0 scale are eligible to have the GRE requirement waived.

All students at Penn Nursing must fulfill our immunization requirements as well as CPR certification, drug screen and background checks, licensure requirements, and other program-specific qualifications.
