Gain the technical finance skills necessary for success in corporate finance, banking, and investment careers, or for further academic studies.
The Master of Science in Finance from University of Pittsburgh is a 30-credit master’s degree program you may complete in as little as nine months, or two terms of full-time study, beginning in the fall (August) term. You may also pursue the degree part-time starting in the fall, spring (January), or summer (May) and finish in two years.
A CFA Institute University Affiliate, Katz offers a finance curriculum covering 70 percent of the topics on the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam and enhances your preparation for related certifications such as the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certifications.

Designated as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute University Affiliate, Katz offers a finance curriculum that is closely tied to the practice of investment management and will prepare you to sit for the three levels of CFA examinations.

General requirements
- To recognize prospective students for their academic achievement, graduating students or recent graduates applying to any of Katz’s Master of Science programs within five years of completion of their degrees may be eligible for an exemption of the GMAT or GRE if they meet the following criteria:
- 3.25 cumulative GPA from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or foreign equivalent
- 3.0 quantitative GPA (in finance, accounting, economics, calculus, statistics, and mathematics) and a minimum of 6 credit hours of quantitative courses that include either statistics or calculus
