About the program

With an average faculty-to-student ratio of 12:1, the smaller classes of the Teaching program of Rollins College will give you the personal attention and individualized instruction necessary for development as a professional educator.

Curriculum
The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) provides opportunities for students to pursue graduate studies and to meet professional certification requirements for teaching in Florida. The M.A.T. program focuses on the mastery of content specialization, the teaching/learning process, and the application of educational research to classroom activities. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an area other than elementary education.

General requirements
- A completed Application for Graduate Admission with a $50 non-refundable application fee.
- Official transcripts from the bachelors or master’s degree granting college or university institution. An undergraduate GPA of 3.0+ is recommended.
- We do not require standardized graduate entrance exams.
- Two (2) letters of recommendation are required to be submitted via the online application process.
- A current resume reflecting current position and/or volunteer experience submitted through the online application.
- A Statement of Purpose essay of one to two (1-2) pages clarifying your expectations for your MAT graduate studies and why you believe this program is the right fit for you.
- We require all applicants whose first language is not English to adequately demonstrate English competency as part of the application process.
- Students who are not American citizens must demonstrate appropriate permanent resident or visa status.
