Overview
Graduates in the Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at the Adelphi University are prepared to assess, plan and manage clients and families with psychiatric diagnoses, providing psychopharmacology, counseling and therapy interventions.

- Graduates are licensed in NY and are prepared to take the national certification exam for psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioners following graduation.
- Following core courses in pathophysiology, advanced physical assessment and pharmacology, the student enrolls in psychiatric-mental health specialty courses including advanced practice role and psychopharmacology.
- Clinical courses focus on the mental health of individuals (adults, children and adolescents) and families. The program also includes courses on substance use disorders, community mental health care and crisis care in emergency services.
- State-of-the-art, 18,000-square-foot clinical simulation laboratory with the latest education technology, housed in the new Nexus Building
- Program offered part-time with core courses offered online
- Students work directly with children, adolescents, adults and geriatric clients experiencing psychiatric issues through required clinical practice

- Variety of clinical settings, including community health clinics, health maintenance organizations, specialty clinics, correctional facilities and private medical practices
- Preparation for national certification exam and state licensure

- Two letters of recommendation, from master’s prepared nurses or above only, with credentials included.
