About

The Master of Arts degree (MA) program in speech-language pathology is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Overview

The program offers experiences that will enable the student to meet the academic and practicum requirements for certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensure by the South Carolina Board of Examiners in Speech Pathology and Audiology.

Programme Structure

Two program options are available in the speech-language pathology graduate program. Students who elect to write a thesis must complete a minimum of 30 semester hours of course work, plus the thesis. Students who do not elect to write a thesis must complete a minimum of 36 semester hours of course work. All students, however, must take those courses that will enable them to meet the academic and practicum requirements for certification by ASHA and for licensure in the state of South Carolina. Graduation also requires the satisfactory completion of a comprehensive examination in speech-language pathology.
