Mission Statement

The mission of the Master of Social Work (MSW) program at Jacksonville State University is to provide a high-quality education through academic preparation for graduates to engage in independent advanced generalist social work practice, and to address local, regional, and national workforce needs for social work services. 

The motivation is for the development of professionals with advanced, ethical, evidence-based social work practice and leadership skills at all practice levels with the goal of improving individual and societal well-being.

  • Three Graduate Reference Forms completed by individuals who can provide qualitative assessment of the applicant’s potential for success in graduate coursework.
  • A resume, including education, employment, and other applicable social work-related experience/skills (e.g., practicum/research experience, presentations, publications).
  • International Students with an Undergraduate Degree in Social Work Please Note: The Office of Social Work Accreditation (OSWA), part of the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as the sole accrediting agency for social work education in the United States.
