At the Music Technology MM program from New York University, you'll have the opportunity to work at major recording studios and media companies in the capital of the music industry, and develop expertise in an academic setting that encourages creative experimentation. 


Your program of study includes core classes in advanced musical acoustics, advanced computer music composition, digital signal theory, digital audio processing, and cognate elective classes. You are also required to take a music class that involves performance, such as an ensemble course, and to complete and defend a master's thesis.

  • Entering graduate students are required to take advisory exams in both areas prior to arrival; placements will be determined by interpreting the exam results in light of your educational background and the degree program for which you are enrolled. 
  • Remedial courses cannot be used to meet degree requirements within any of the graduate programs.
