Overview

Your curriculum at the Music Theory and Composition - Screen Scoring MM program at New York University includes core courses in research, music theory, and music history and literature; composition seminars; classes in film music; our Composers Forum; and private composition studies.

Electives are available in computer music, conducting, music technology and production, songwriting, music theory and cognition, music business, and game audio. You’ll master the use of industry-standard software, sample libraries, synthesizers, and audio processors.

Professional Development

In addition to providing a well-rounded and professional education, NYU Steinhardt's Screen Scoring program presents a broad variety of workshops, conferences, and professional opportunities for composers and scholars. You'll participate in our weekly Composers Forum and FRIDAY@1:00 series, where you will meet and share your work with composers, songwriters, publishers, and industry executives.
