About

UL Lafayette home to Louisiana’s first Master of Science in Informatics degree program.

Overview

Offered by the School of Computing and Informatics, the program takes an interdisciplinary approach to bridging the world of technology and business by preparing students to design and implement enterprise computing — including analytics, reporting, database management, and other software solutions systems — that can be applied in a wide range of industries.

The program is designed to allow you to focus courses around your own interests in business, interactive media technology, system administration, web development, and network security. We emphasize the use of the scientific method to design and develop computing and information technologies, as well as designing, maintaining, and adapting information systems to solve problems while also understanding the needs of the end user.

Programme Structure

This is an interdisciplinary graduate degree that provides opportunities to take additional courses in biology, business, geology, math, physics, psychology, and more. This flexibility makes our graduates much more adaptable in their careers since informatics is used in virtually every industry, including healthcare, large-scale retail, space exploration, entertainment, and other non-profit, for-profit, and governmental organizations.
