Overview

Residents enrolled in certificate programs at the School of Dentistry and individuals who have an interest in oral biology are also encouraged to apply.

The Oral Biology program of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), which is a 2-year program, is led by Cun-Yu Wang, PhD, DDS, Program Director, and Associate Dean of Graduate Studies along with Shen Hu, PhD who acts as the Master's Advisor.

The number of students accepted to the MS programs ranges from 12 to 15 individuals.

The MS degree is formatted by a course component, culminating in a thesis. A total of 36 units is required, 29 of which must be Oral Biology program core courses. Students must take additional elective courses (a minimum of six units) that are essential to the student's research area. All coursework must be at a graduate level.

What to Expect

The first year consists mostly of oral biology coursework and two lab rotations, although students may start on their thesis research if the subject and lab have been identified by this time.
