Overview
At Brass - Tuba and Euphonium from University of North Carolina School of the Arts, you will be part of a close community of tuba and euphonium players—and artists of all disciplines—that prepares you for life as a professional musician in the modern world.
As a graduate tuba & euphonium degree student at UNCSA, you will be part of a program that fosters excellence and allows you to take your music to the next level. You will participate in all departmental juries and perform two recitals, one in Year One and a second in Year Two. In addition to private lessons and master classes, you will also take Career Strategies courses that strengthen skills needed in the professional world, like those for auditions, entrepreneurship, recording and portfolio preparation.
Careers
The brass program at UNCSA has been a springboard for many of its graduates’ professional careers and education. Graduates have pursed advanced degrees at prestigious institutions like the Manhattan School of Music and Indiana University in Bloomington, completed fellowships at Lincoln Center and studied musicology in Vienna. Others are part of ensembles, like the local Camel City Jazz Orchestra and Giannini Brass Quintet, Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra and ceremonial bands in the United States military. Still others have found their calling in arts administration with organizations like The Philly Pops and our very own UNCSA.
