Overview
Students in the Pastoral Care and Counseling program of Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary will be equipped to integrate theology with psychological theories to address human suffering and facilitate the healing and flourishing of persons and communities.
Clinical Track Option
The Master of Arts in Pastoral Care and Counseling Clinical Track is a 65-hour degree that gives you the clinical training and academic coursework necessary to sit for the Illinois state licensure exam for professional counselors. Garrett-Evangelical partners with Northwestern University and The Center for Religion and Psychotherapy of Chicago (CRPC) to provide the necessary clinical courses for licensure in Illinois, with the bulk of the clinical courses being at CRPC.
The MAPCC Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care track is a 48-credit hour hybrid degree track where students can complete nearly all of their required coursework online without needing to move to Evanston/Chicago area.
Within the requirements of the program are a short, intensive cohort retreat, and two weeklong in-person intensives during the second year of the program – one during the Fall semester and one during the Spring semester.
