About

Learn how to lead transformative change in health and health care through The Dartmouth College Institute’s online Master of Public Health (Online) program.

Overview

Designed specifically for working professionals who are not afraid to ask tough questions and who are passionate about challenging the status quo, the 22-month program enables you to pursue your MPH online with minimal time away from your job.

Along the way, you will work closely with a small group of about 30 peers who bring variety of perspectives to the program as physicians, nurses, social workers, program managers, researchers, policy analysts, and administrators. With a 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio, you’ll also have direct access to the Institute’s world-renowned faculty who are the innovators behind many of the most disruptive ideas in health care today.

Learning outcomes

Public Health (Online) students at Dartmouth College take one course at a time online (about 15 hours of work per week) and spend three weeks per year on the Dartmouth campus interacting face-to-face with each other and with faculty. Through case studies, problem sets, virtual classes, and video lectures, students take a deep dive into content such as epidemiology, biostatistics, and health care ethics. Mentored by a Dartmouth Institute faculty member, students also design and complete a practicum project. The practicums can range from a quality improvement project in a medical care setting to a project in policy analysis/development.

Whether your path is on the front lines as health care provider or working to understand the big-picture as a researcher or a policy analyst, at Dartmouth you'll have the opportunity to build a professional network that will allow you to achieve your career and academic goals.
