Lipscomb University is offering a unique program to train professionals with a holistic approach to empowering healthy living and disease prevention. The Exercise and Nutrition Science program offered by the Lipscomb University  is inspired by the growing demand of health awareness in both exercise physiology and nutrition.


Lipscomb’s long standing academic tradition and innovative approach to serving the community influences the development of this unique program. The Exercise and Nutrition Science program offered by the Lipscomb University is a 36 hour program that will give you both classroom and hands on opportunities to enhance your educational experience. The program offers a practicum or thesis option for you to meet your academic and professional needs.

Program Flexibility

This program is designed to meet your professional needs. As a student you will be able to select your academic track to meet your career goals. The program has four core courses with diverse options of elective coursework. The academic design also enables students to select electives across disciplines in other graduate programs on campus. 

Students also have the option of choosing a thesis track or practicum for the M.S. in Exercise and Nutrition Science. This program provides opportunities for extensive research in the wellness or nutrition areas or working with local organizations.

General requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in either Exercise Science or Nutrition 
  • Or 6-8 hours in biology; 6-8 hours in anatomy and physiology; 6-8 hours in chemistry; one nutrition course; one exercise physiology course (recommended but not required). 
  • Official transcripts
  • 2.75 cumulative grade point average on all undergraduate work (higher science GPA is desirable)
  • Three letters of recommendation: one academic, one professional and one personal
  • Two essays (no more than 500 words each) from the following four topics: Statement of Faith, Personal philosophy on exercise/nutrition, Career aspirations, Your purpose and passion
  • Interview (phone, Skype, in person) for finalists
