Overview

A major in the English course offered at The University of New Mexico can lead to professional careers in teaching and literary research, archival and curatorial librarianship, publishing, journalism, advertising and the arts; as well as human resources, sales and marketing, management, and government work. Even when additional qualifications are needed, as in law, an undergraduate major in English is often a distinct advantage.
We train scholars, teachers, and writers, all of whom share a commitment to language and literary studies, in our long-established degree programs in American and British Literatures, Creative Writing, Rhetoric and Writing, and Medieval Studies, Native American Literature, and Professional Writing.
