Overview

The constantly changing nature of the current health care system demands master's level nurses who can serve as leaders for the nursing profession. There is an urgent need for nurse executives who can promote the growth of the profession as well as work to improve the quality and safety of patient care.

The program consists of graduate nursing core courses and executive leadership and change courses that have been combined to provide students with the requisite backgrounds in nursing concepts (theory and research) as well as in leadership and organizational models and theories.

Program Highlights

Students in this program get first-hand experience with participation and completion of a research project. These students work with a faculty chairperson and committee to develop and complete a research project of their own design.
Professors in this program have a wide range of research and clinical experience in the field of nursing allowing them to direct student learning effectively at the graduate level.
Daemen faculty is experienced in teaching and gives individualized attention to each student.
Leadership classes are offered on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings.
Students develop an experienced based personal model of leadership that provides guidance and support as they advance in their careers.

Possession of a baccalaureate degree in nursing from a NLNAC or CCNE accredited program or possession of a baccalaureate degree in another discipline

One year medical-surgical clinical experience (or equivalent).

Completion of an undergraduate or graduate statistics course with a grade of C or better.

Cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or above (on a 4.0 scale) from all colleges/universities attended.

New York State License and current professional nurse registration

Three letters of recommendation.

Interview with the nursing faculty.
