Mercer University's Master of Science Human Services is designed professionals who currently hold staff positions and are ready for leadership positions or are seeking a career in the human services field. Students focus on closing the gap between individuals, communities and resources to improve healthcare.


The M.S. in Human Services program offers two concentrations, providing candidates the choice to specialize in either area of expertise. Regardless of discipline, students learn to increase their ability to communicate and assess the population's health needs. The degree program offers two concentrations:

  • Gerontology Services
  • Child and Adolescent Services

Academic requirements

GPA admission requirements GPA Your GPA, or Grade Point Average, is a number that indicates how well or how high you scored in your courses on average. Usually a GPA scales between 1.0 and 4.0, however different countries and universities can have different grading systems.

English requirements

TOEFL admission requirements TOEFL® IBT The TOEFL iBT® is given online through the internet at designated testing site. The test measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. The score refers to the total score of 4 subjects (writing, listening, speaking, and reading), each subject has a range of 0 - 30.
IELTS admission requirements IELTS The International English Language Test System (IELTS) tests your English-language proficiency on a scale of 1 – 9. The score refers to the combined average score of 4 subjects (writing, listening, speaking, and reading).

General requirements

  • Submit a completed application along with application fee. 
  • Must submit a minimum of two, but preferably three letters of recommendation for admission.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in an appropriate field from an ABET accredited program, but applicants will be considered with an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution or its equivalent internationally.
  • Submit GRE score on the general section of the test.
