We offer a full range of courses so that students can complete their M.A. in two semesters and one summer. Students who require a different pace can take just one course per semester--the choice is up to the student! This is the ideal program for international students, who are allowed to take only one online course per semester.

About

Students in this option can also mix and match their degree program, taking electives that are online, or taking public administration electives to enhance their professional skills. Full time enrolled students are also eligible for graduate assistantships.Our students represent a wide variety of backgrounds. Many students have undergraduate degrees in Political Science, but we also have students with degrees such as History, Sociology, Psychology, Economics, English, Communications, Journalism, and General Studies. Our students are diverse in terms of gender, race, ethnicity, ideology, and class.

Academic Requirements

  • This programme accepts GRE® scores, however, has not provided a recommended or minimum required score range.

    The GRE® General Test is a widely administered admissions test that measures the skills needed in today's graduate and business school programs worldwide. The GRE® General Test contains three sections - Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Three scores are reported: a Verbal Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, a Quantitative Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, and an Analytical Writing score on a 0 - 6 score scale in half-point increments.

  • Apply to The Graduate School by submitting an online application or by completing a paper application. Application requires a $30 non-refundable fee. 
  • Official transcripts should be mailed.
  • If you received your undergraduate degree from EIU, we will be able to request your transcript from the Records Office.
  • Some departments require a test score for admission. If the department requires a test score, have the score sent directly to The Graduate School (GMA, GRE).
  • All graduate programs require applicants to submit additional application materials through MyEIU. Additional materials may include a portfolio, letters of recommendation, writing samples, etc.
