Overview

The Master of Arts in English degree from Jacksonville State University is a thirty-hour master’s program that may be completed in either of the following delivery formats:

Blended: Students may choose to take some classes that meet face to face, some that are offered in a blended (hybrid) format, and/or some that are offered 100% online (synchronous and asynchronous).
100% Online: Students may choose to take all classes that are 100% online (synchronous and asynchronous).

Completing the master’s degree in English prepares you for a career as a non-tenure track Instructor of English at any two- or four-year college or university, but, because it builds on the skills acquired at the undergraduate English major level, there are many Careers in English you may explore.

Completed JSU Graduate Application for Admission.
Non-refundable $35.00 application processing fee.
Official transcripts from all colleges/universities with degrees posted. (Students who have previously attended JSU do not need to request a transcript from the university.)
Three Graduate Reference Forms completed by individuals who can provide qualitative assessment of the applicant’s potential for success in graduate coursework. Reference forms will be submitted electronically. Instructions for submission will be sent through email to the applicant upon submission of the online graduate application.

A writing sample may be requested.
