Overview

The mission of the MCIS department from Jacksonville State University is to provide quality programs for three Bachelor of Science degrees, and two Master of Science degrees, such as the Computer Systems and Software Design. MCIS also offers a minor in four areas, and courses for students seeking a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a concentration in mathematics.

The program in Computer Systems and Software Design of this department place a strong emphasis on quality teaching, and encourage research and other scholarly activities to strengthen this emphasis. In its presentation of the programs, MCIS attempts to provide a balance between the theoretical and the applied.

MCIS provides the appropriate courses for its own majors and minors in addition to several service courses in mathematics and computer science for other disciplines. In conjunction with Academic Computer Services, MCIS strives to provide all students access to modern computing laboratories

General requirements

Completed JSU Graduate Application for Admission.
Non-refundable $35.00 application processing fee.
Official transcripts from all colleges/universities with degrees posted. (Students who have previously attended JSU do not need to request a transcript from the university).
Official tests scores on the General Test of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). The GRE must have been taken within the previous five years of enrollment.
Three Graduate Reference Forms completed by individuals who can provide qualitative assessment of the applicant’s potential for success in graduate coursework. Reference forms will be submitted electronically. Instructions for submission will be sent through email to the applicant upon submission of the online graduate application.
