Highlights
The M.S. in Physics degree program from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University offers three options: the thesis option, the course work option, and the project option. The thesis option requires a minimum of 30 semester hours which includes 6 semester hours of thesis. The course work option requires a minimum of 33 semester hours plus a comprehensive examination. The project option requires a minimum of 30 semester hours plus 3 semester hours of a special project. The Department of Physics also participates in the Ph.D. program in Energy and Environmental Sciences.
Graduate student support is provided by both the university and the department in the form of fellowships, teaching assistantships, and research assistantships. The financial support offered most incoming students is in the form of a teaching assistantship and requires up to 20 hours per week of instructional-related service.

- Critical Thinking: Students at the MS-Physics program will be able to think critically and use relevant physics concepts to solve physics problems and analyze situations involving physics.
- Communication: MS-Physics students will be able to articulate physical concepts, research work, and findings with tact and professionalism, both orally and in writing.
- General Physics Knowledge and Analytical Reasoning: Students will acquire an in-depth knowledge and thorough understanding of physical principles. Students will develop analytical skills to combine them with their working knowledge to explain the world around us and how things work at the fundamental level.

General requirements
- Online application for admission to the Graduate College.
- Transcripts: One unofficial copy of transcript(s)/mark sheet(s) from all colleges and universities previously attended must be uploaded on the application portal. An overall GPA of 3.0 in the bachelor's degree, a previously earned graduate degree or a GPA of 3.0 on at least 12 post-baccalaureate graduate credits is necessary (in addition to the other criteria outlined in the Graduate Catalog) for unconditional admission.
- Recommendations: Three recommendations are expected.
- Personal statement of interest in the program, as required.
- English language proficiency: International applicants are required to provide evidence of English language proficiency.
