Overview

The Master of Science (M.S.) education program from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point in Speech-Language Pathology students will develop the necessary knowledge and skills to competently assess and treat individuals with communication, cognition, and/or swallowing disorders from diverse backgrounds in a variety of community and work settings. The program is designed to promote a healthy and thriving community by serving and advocating for the people of Central Wisconsin.

Career opportunities

Clinical training in speech and language pathology may begin at the undergraduate level and continues throughout graduate school in clinical practical experiences at the UW-Stevens Point Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic and off-campus sites such as hospitals, private practices, birth-to-three programs, and skilled nursing facilities in the area. The clinical experience culminates with a full-time externship during the final semester of the graduate program.

Structure:

In speech-language pathology, you must take a comprehensive examination the semester before you begin a 15-credit clinical semester

In the clinical semester, you are assigned full time for one academic term to a hospital, clinic, school, etc. to gain professional experience in the type of setting that most interests you

You may complete a thesis in lieu of taking comprehensive examinations as a culminating experience. The thesis must be completed prior to graduation

Describe a challenging experience that required significant perseverance and determination.
Submit all official transcripts and three letters of recommendation
In addition to the CSDCAS application, you must apply for graduate study at UWSP via the UW online application and pay the application fee. You do not need to submit a separate transcript to UWSP at this time. If you are accepted as a graduate student, you will need to submit a transcript that shows your conferred degree.
