Given Salem’s prominent role in English settlement and colonization, the China Trade, and industrialization, as well as the ongoing legacy of the Witch Trials of 1692, our region provides abundant resources to support research in every period of the American past.

The master of arts in History at Salem State University is program is geared for those who hold an initial teaching license and are seeking professional licensure; current or future professionals in area museums and historical agencies; students who are preparing for doctoral studies in history; and those who just simply love history and want to dive deeper into the discipline.

33-39 credits, with thesis and capstone options available
