Overview
The Masters of Arts in Physical Sciences at Bridgewater State University provides a dynamic and inspiring learning environment with opportunities to work side-by-side with peers and experienced teachers in a collegial and supportive atmosphere. The program is designed to blend content knowledge in physical science, STEM-specific pedagogical content knowledge about how students learn, and core educational theory and applications.
The MA in Physical Science offers:
- Opportunities for further graduate training in core educational theory, including courses in assessment, leadership, standards, and curriculum
- Opportunities for graduate training in STEM Pedagogical Knowledge Content, including understanding the historical development of ideas in physical sciences, issues related to diversity as they pertain to teaching physical science and promoting a more inclusive STEM community, and core conceptual hurdles students face in learning physical science ideas
- Opportunities to expand one’s knowledge base with courses in a variety of modern science topics
- Opportunities to design new, or improve existing, lessons and labs to promote high standards and inclusion
- Opportunities to learn from and work with excellent faculty with diverse experiences in STEM pedagogy and content
