Overview

With online and on-campus courses, the Maritime and Naval Studies program from SUNY Maritime College focuses on maritime and naval history, literature, transportation and environmental policy. A 31-credit degree, it can be completed in three semesters.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of a Master of Science in Maritime Studies and Naval Studies, the graduate will be able to:

Prepare research papers that draw upon both a broad range of primary sources and secondary sources.

Demonstrate skills in hands-on work with documents and texts, including archival work and in the digital humanities.

Analyze the intersection of the humanities and the maritime worlds.

Disseminate findings, discoveries, and conclusions to broader publics, both through traditional scholarly journals and through web platforms.
