Overview
Educational objectives of the program include:
- To prepare students as professional accountants in public practice or in business.
- To develop each student's intermediate proficiency in all technical competence areas of accounting generalists and to develop advanced proficiency in all technical competence areas of accounting generalists and to develop advanced proficiency in financial accounting & reporting and at least one other accounting technical competence area such as taxation, audit & assurance, accounting information systems, or managerial accounting.
Designed With You in Mind
The Accounting program of Tarleton State University is designed to be flexible, and accommodates students entering in the Fall, Spring, or Summer. There are several courses that are offered online, however most of our courses are offered in a face-to-face lecture format. Online class meetings meet the needs of working professionals, while face-to-face class meetings facilitate other forms of learning and development as well as addressing the requirements of the Texas Board of Public Accountancy and visa requirements of international students.

General requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred
- GRE scores required if GPA is below a 3.0
- Submit online graduate admissions application
- Pay a $50 non-refundable processing fee
- Submit a statement of purpose of 600 words or less
- A transcript evaluation must be completed by an approved agency which includes all previous academic course work, as well as a complete description of courses and overall GPA (course-by-course evaluation)
- International applicants are required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores as a part of the application process
- Required of students studying on-campus, in the U.S. only: To obtain a Form I-20 for your studies at Tarleton, you must demonstrate that you have sufficient funding
- If you choose to stay in one of our Residence Halls, fill out the Housing Application
