Overview

Students of the Civil Engineering program at Oregon State University can focus their work in seven different areas of civil engineering and make use of specialized facilities to complete their work. Each area of specialization has different requirements for each degree program.

Key facts:

The student’s MS program of study shall be designed to develop a degree of competence in the major area significantly higher than the customary baccalaureate education, and shall include background and adjunct knowledge normally expected of a person entering the professional practice of that specialty.
To aid in assuring high standards, the major shall include not less than 15 credit hours of 500-level, non-blanket, CCE courses.

The MEng is a coursework-only master's degree of 45 credits based on curricula that allow graduate students to efficiently focus on the academic courses that are most relevant to their professional objectives. Each student works with a committee and undergoes a final oral examination.
Students pursuing the MEng degree are typically not eligible for Graduate Assistantships but may apply for scholarships.

Oregon State University Certification of Finances Form is required of all applicants, regardless of funding source. This includes applicants that have been granted a Teaching or Research Assistantship.
Supporting documentation, demonstrating sufficient financial resources for the desired academic program. See below for Acceptable Forms of Financial Documentation
Photocopy of Applicant’s Passport and Passport of any dependents (if passport has already been issued – this is used to match the name on the passport and visa documents).
