The Master of Music Performance in Conducting concentration is a 36 hour degree with a two year residency. It provides students the opportunity to develop skills as choral and instrumental conductors while working with an internationally recognized faculty and excellent ensembles

This program is well suited to students who have completed Bachelor’s Degrees in Music Performance and Music Education.

The University of North Florida (UNF) School of Music brings a focused commitment to excellence and the artistic and intellectual preparation of students for the diverse and challenging world in which we live. It aims to provide a high level of professional musical training as well as a sense of relevance regarding the value of music to our society through an active, pluralistic musical environment encompassing western European traditional art music through contemporary music including world music and jazz.

The UNF School of Music faculty, excellent instructors evidenced by their innovative pedagogy, scholarship, and research in their respective fields, serve as artist-teachers working with students in large and small performing ensembles as well as through individual applied instruction.

Programme Structure

Classes are scheduled to allow music educators, church musicians and other music professionals in Northeast Florida to pursue the degree while maintaining full-time employment.

Academic Requirements

Preliminary Application for MM Conducting (Choral and Instrumental): Submit video excerpts of rehearsals (max 10 minutes) and performances (max 10 minutes). Diverse repertoire selections are encouraged. Also, submit three selections on your major instrument.
