All of these courses include applied work and students have the opportunity to complete professional level writing in the thesis seminar, two relevant electives and a final thesis. The Master of Arts (MA) in Music - Music Therapy program at the Montclair State University has been known as a comprehensive, eclectic music therapy program since 1969.
We take pride in the ability to provide you with excellent clinical placement experiences, careful academic advisement and nationally and internationally known faculty within the music therapy program, the music school and other departments you may wish to explore such as gerontology, child life, psychology, learning disabilities, special education and behavioral neuroscience.

Statement of Purpose
Letters of Recommendation: Two.
Standardized Test Scores: GRE (see test waiver policies). Beginning with applications for a program beginning in the Spring 2021 semester, the GRE will no longer be required for admission, regardless of undergraduate GPA.
Students holding degrees from non-US institutions must request a course-by-course transcript evaluation from a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services or by Educated Choices. TOEFL (Test of English as a foreign language), IELTS (International English Language Testing System) or Duolingo English Test are required for applicants to any program who earned their degree in a country where English is not the official language.
