What is our Focus ?

The Master of Science in Communication Management program at Towson University offers both professional and research-oriented coursework with an emphasis on public relations and integrated communication. It is a hybrid program in which students can complete at least 50% (a total of 18 credits), of the 36-credit degree requirement online.

Our theory and methodology courses provide you with the academic tools you will need to complete the final components of the program — either comprehensive exams or a thesis. In addition to mass communication and communication studies courses, you can choose from a wide variety of elective courses.

Our unique curriculum covers a wide range of communication topics including crisis communication, social media and content strategies, corporate communication, and media and politics, allowing students from different backgrounds to learn valuable skills and build tools for academic and professional success. Your coursework and professors will help you expand your knowledge of all facets of organizational communication and public relations.

General requirements

A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the following fields: mass communication; public relations and advertising; communication studies, or related field; or equivalent professional experiences that are documented by the student and approved by the program director.
A minimum overall GPA of 3.00 or higher for full admission. Conditional admission may be granted to students whose GPA is at least a 2.8. GPA calculations for admission may be based upon the last 60 credits of undergraduate and post-baccalaureate study. Courses taken beyond the baccalaureate degree may be included in the undergraduate grade point average only if they are at least upper division undergraduate work (300/400 level).
