Overview

The core program is very much like master’s in speech pathology programs at universities across the nation. As in any other accredited program, you will meet the academic requirements for the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).

In the Speech Language Pathology program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, you will have the specified number of clinical hours in a variety of clinical settings, and the coursework will be sufficient to cover the depth and breadth of knowledge you will need.

Career Opportunities

Speech Language Pathologists must be licensed by the state in which they work. Most states also require certification from their State Department of Education to work in public education. Many employers require the Certificate of Clinical Competence awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Students receiving their masters degrees from the UL Lafayette Department of Communicative Disorders are eligible for these credentials.
