About Anesthesia course at University of Missouri - Kansas City

The UMKC School of Medicine enjoys a rich history of innovation in medical education. The Master of Science in Anesthesia (MSA) program was started in 2008 to address a shortage of anesthesia care providers in Missouri and throughout the United States. Ours was the first MSA program west of the Mississippi. Today, we are one of only 12 anesthesiologist assistant programs in the country. With 60 graduates and a 100 percent placement rate, our program produces highly skilled professionals who are an integral component of the anesthesia care team.

Careers

The clinical rotation schedule ensures experience with the specialties involved in anesthesia including pediatrics, cardiac, obstetrics, neurosurgery and trauma.

General requirements

Applicants for admission to the MSA program must have earned, or will soon earn, a baccalaureate degree or higher from a regionally-accredited U.S. or Canadian college/university.

It is recommended that applicants earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Applicants must complete the following pre-requisite courses prior to matriculation, with a pre-requisite GPA of 3.0 or higher. It is required that applicants receive a grade of C or better.
