Overview

In a world where assessment, measurement, and the ability to accurately analyze all this big data is critical, quantitative methods are at the heart of all aspects of psychology, education, business, and the social sciences. In this program, you will study methods and techniques for the measurement of human attributes, the statistical and mathematical modeling of psychological processes, the design of research studies, and the analysis of psychological data.

This program will provide you with basic and advanced statistical knowledge and skills, plus the proficiency to analyze and apply data in a variety of social science-related data situations that are necessary for many public and private sector jobs in education and industry, as well as for pursuing a doctoral degree.

    PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) is a language test that enables students to demonstrate their writing, listening, speaking, and reading skills when applying to study in English. Delivered and marked by computer, it reports on a scale between 10 and 90.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 2.75

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.75 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

General Requirements

  • You must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 on a U.S. 4.0 scale (some programs require higher GPAs)
  • You must pay a nonrefundable application fee of $60
  • You must submit documentation regarding all prior academic history of higher education
  • Ball State University requires all international graduate applicants to demonstrate English proficiency by submitting a TOEFL, Pearson's PTE, or IELTS score unless eligible for a waiver. A scanned copy of the score report can be emailed to INTADMIT@bsu.edu
