We view our aesthetic diversity as a strength of the program. Students of the Creative Writing program offered by San Diego State University will find a varied and informative approach to the writing process from each writer twith whom they study. What remains common practice is our willingness to privilege the thesis dialogue. It is not unusual for members of the MFA faculty to have manuscript consultations with a student over a two or three year period.

MFA Requirements

In addition to meeting the requirements for classified graduate standing, candidates for the M.F.A. in Creative Writing must complete a 54-unit graduate program, 39 of which must be in courses numbered 600 and above.
