In addition to faculty working directly in these areas, many faculty outside the department offer relevant courses and are available to students working on their graduate thesis.

Our philosophy Master's degree with an emphasis in environmental philosophy offers students a unique stepping stone towards further studies in philosophy or careers in a wide range of fields related to natural resource issues and policy.

The Environmental Philosophy program of The University of Montana is taught by a core group of faculty members with interests that range across several areas of environmental philosophy. In addition to philosophy faculty working directly in these areas, many faculty outside the department--for example in the W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation, the Division of Biological Sciences, English, Environmental Studies, and Native American Studies--offer relevant courses that can be taken as electives and are available to students working on their graduate thesis.

A Master's degree in environmental philosophy can stand on its own or provide valuable preparation for a PhD in philosophy, law school, public policy work, the non-profit sector, or environmental writing, analysis, and consulting. At the University of Montana in Missoula, we believe we provide an intellectual and cultural environment for this work that is both unique and cutting-edge.
