Overview
Learning from the CSWE accredited FSU College of Social Work, you will receive a first-rate education as well as an opportunity to experience an excellent field placement. Choose from a traditional classroom experience in Tallahassee or Panama City, Florida, or complete your degree from the comfort of your own home through our Online MSW program, the first program of its kind in the country.
Traditional Master’s Program
Florida State University offers a Master of Social Work program, which is normally completed in two years (five semesters) beginning in August of one year and ending 20 months later in April. Sixty-one (61) credit hours of required social work courses and electives are necessary for completion of the program. Students choose either the Clinical Social Work Concentration or the Social Leadership Concentration during the course of their studies. Please note: Students MUST complete the MSW within SEVEN years.
Advanced Standing MSW Program
The College also offers an Advanced Standing Master of Social Work program, which allows BSW students to complete the MSW program in one year. Advanced Standing applicants must have completed an undergraduate degree in social work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and meet certain other specific requirements. Students in the Advanced Standing program complete 39 credit hours of required social work courses and electives, choosing either the Clinical Social Work Concentration or the Social Leadership Concentration. Please note: Students MUST complete the MSW within SEVEN years.

General requirements
- One OFFICIAL copy of your transcripts from each undergraduate and/or graduate school you have attended. Transcripts must not be “Issued To Student.”
- Official GRE scores must be sent from ETS directly to FSU. The FSU institutional code is 5219. GRE scores must be submitted even if you meet the university minimum upper division undergraduate GPA requirement of a 3.0. These will be sent electronically by ETS if you indicate that scores should be sent to our institution during your test session.
