About the degree

The M.S. Pharmacology program from Georgetown University is designed to be completed in two full-time semesters and the curriculum consists of two components: core courses focused on pharmacology, biochemistry, and physiology and elective courses for each student to tailor the program to their interests. The degree can be completed with coursework only or it can include a laboratory experience. Thirty credits are required to complete the M.S. degree and the elective credits will come either from a set of related courses or from the research project.

Opportunities for masters-level pharmacologists exist in the pharmaceutical industry, government agencies, and laboratories, as well as at biotechnology companies. Masters students may also decide to apply for Ph.D. or M.D. programs, where the coursework completed in this master's program will prove beneficial.

Typical matriculants to the M.S. program have a B.S. degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or similar science field. Applicants with an undergraduate degree in any other discipline must show strong performance in basic courses in biology and chemistry in order to be eligible for admission.
