Graduate education and research is an essential mission of the Mechanical Engineering Department; the most critical component of our research program is the students who carry out the theoretical and experimental studies under the guidance of our faculty.

About

The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers graduate study leading to the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. In addition, students may pursue a Master of Engineering degree through the Professional Master's Program of the Office of Advanced Engineering Education. The Department's instruction and research are carried out through the following four divisions: 1. Design and Reliability of Systems; 2. Electronic Products and Systems; 3. Mechanics and Materials; and 4. Thermal, Fluids and Energy Sciences.

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
